Do you remember your high school senior photo session? If you are over the age of 30, your memories are probably clouded with images of a dark studio strung with artificial lighting, weird props, carpeted backdrops and the dreaded cap and gown shot your mom insisted on. And, if you’re really lucky, that same cap and gown photo still hangs by the mantel at your mom’s house. Fond memories that senior session holds, right? 🙂
Well- let me just say, today’s high schoolers take a totally different approach to their senior photos. They are much more relaxed and usually take place in a natural or outdoor setting. Much improved from the good old days and this senior session with Whitney, a 12th grader at Dexter Southfield High School, is evidence of it.
Whitney was introduced to me by a photographer friend and this referral couldn’t have been more up my alley. I adore photographing high school seniors and I was pumped when I found out Whitney wanted to hold the session at her home in Wellesley.
You guys. This home was stunning! Seriously perfect light and such a comfortable, love-filled space. Added bonus: the weather was so mild, we even got to sneak a few outdoor shots in. Yes, we did. In February. In Massachusetts.
Whitney is keeping busy outside of school with cross country and rowing and all the work that goes into prepping for the start of her college career. I loved learning about her as we walked through her home and all the excitement that comes with preparing to “fly the nest” was palpable. It sounds like she is on the fence of where she’ll attend college, but the more we chatted, the more I learned that she really couldn’t go wrong with any of her options.
Whitney- I wish you all the success you deserve as you start to write this next and newest chapter of your life! Congratulations!
