There are a lot of bonuses that come along with being a wedding photographer. One being- there are usually lots of opportunities to get to know the couple before their actual wedding day. There is, of course, the interview where the couple gets to ask a lot of questions about me, my business, my photography style, etc. And, in return, I get to ask them about what they are looking for in a photographer and all about their upcoming nuptials. Some of my couple opt for an engagement shoot, which I absolutely love! Michelle and John were extra passionate about documenting all the events leading up to their wedding, so I was able to photograph not only their engagement session, but also their bridal shower and rehearsal dinner! I pretty much felt like part of the family before their October 1st Newport Rhode Island wedding rolled around 🙂
Michelle and John chose St. Joseph’s church in Newport for their wedding ceremony. Let’s talk about this city for a second before we delve into this gorgeous and fun wedding. Have you been there? It’s a charming, historic town on Aquidneck Island and it’s yacht-filled harbor is basically a photographers dream. The city itself boasts roads of mansions mixed with new cafe’s and restaurants. I highly recommend checking it out!
Ok, now back to Michelle and John! As you can see in the photos below, their Newport Rhode Island wedding day was full of traditional flavor, infused with their own personality. For example, this bride knows how much her groom loves the movie Back to the Future, so she surprised him with a Delorean on their wedding day! So, basically Michelle locked down the #1 Wife award for 2016 on day one of being married!
John wasn’t totally upstaged though. He surprised Michelle by singing to her at the reception. It was so memorable and lovely!
Their reception was held at newly renovated Newport Beach House and we also took some formal pictures at Brenton Point State Park. This wedding is definitely one for my history book as a photographer and I hope to be able to photograph Michelle and John again in the future.
